A Local Fighting for You
Edward Stravato Jr. has lived in the Thornton neighborhood of Johnston for almost his entire life. His father, Edward Sr., served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later worked as an engineering technician while volunteering with the Knights of Columbus and the VFW Wanskuk Post. Watching his father's service-related injuries require extensive VA care showed Ed how well-run government programs can make a real difference for people in need.
Ed graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School, worked his way through Providence College magna cum laude — the first in his family to earn a bachelor's degree — and attended Roger Williams Law School on a full academic scholarship, again graduating magna cum laude. As an attorney, he represented catastrophically injured Rhode Islanders, helped obtain one of the largest civil settlements in RI history for performers injured at the Dunk, and won one of the first settlements against a publicly traded opiate manufacturer on behalf of neighbors addicted by Big Pharma.
In 2021, Ed co-founded Summit Settlement Services, a real estate technology startup that now employs more than 150 people right here in Rhode Island. Starting and growing that business gave him a firsthand crash course in how government bureaucracy can stifle innovation. Now he's running for State Representative to bring that real-world experience to the General Assembly.
